This is a rare opportunity to get an insight into a private collection of Postal History of Saudi Arabia, led by leading specialist Tarik Alireza's who will describe how postal services in Arabia developed from their beginnings in antiquity through to the early years of Saudi rule in the 1930s.
The talk will include a film and a display focusing on correspondence with Great Britain from the early nineteenth century onwards. Tarik Alireza will draw on his own collection of stamps, letters and envelopes and share the stories they tell.
Tarik Alireza, an architect by profession, began collecting postcards, stamps and letters in the mid 1960's and is a Fellow of the Royal Philatelic Society of Great Britain. He has exhibited worldwide and won many medals and awards, most recently Best in Show in London 2017. He is currently working on a book on the postal history of Saudi Arabia.
Following Mr Alireza's talk there will be a drinks reception.
