2026 Grant Cycle: The Barakat Trust
Our 2026 Grant Cycle
Every year on the 1st January, The Barakat Trust launches its annual grant cycle to provide funding for a diverse range of activities relating to the protection and promotion of cultural heritage in the Islamic world.
Our grants are divided into categories, depending on the project that you wish to complete, but must be relevant to Islamic art, architecture, archaeology, heritage, or conservation:
A1 – funding for a taught Masters degree for students from the Islamic world
A2 – contribution to project expenses eg. conferences and fieldwork
A3 – large conservation, training, digitalisation, and research projects
A4 – contribution to costs of an academic publication
B1 – three-month visiting scholarship in Oxford for a scholar from the Islamic world
B2 – nine-month post-doctoral fellowship in Oxford
B3 – funding for a Masters at the University of Oxford
Applications are open until 31st March 2026.
A3 has an expression of interest deadline of 15th February.
B2 has an expression of interest deadline of 1st March.
