‘Celebrating The Barakat Trust’s 25th Anniversary’, Sponsored by Haji Hussein Alireza and Aston Martin
The Barakat Trust marked 25 years of supporting the study and conservation of the material and visual culture of Islamic Heritage. The benefit dinner took place in the presence of Barakat Friends, trustees and supporters and was made possible due to the generosity of the exclusive sponsors, Haji Hussein Alireza Co and Aston Martin. The night commenced with a panel discussion on the “Power of Patronage: Conserving the Future of Islamic Heritage” featuring Professor James Allan, Barakat Academic Advisory committee member and Lecturer in Islamic Art, Khalili Research Center for the Art and Material Culture of the Middle East at Oxford University, Paul Hepworth, conservator and Barakat Grantee, and Iradj Bagherzade, of I B Tauris publishers. The panel discussion was followed by an Art auction, to which numerous renowned Saudi artists contributed generously, namely Abdullah Hammas, Saddek Wasil, Ahmed Mater, Maha Malluh, Ayman Yusri Daydban and Sami Al Turki. Scholar’s travel arrangements were made possible by Alireza Travel. We look forward to another 25 years of adding to the body of Islamic cultural scholarship by supporting scholars.
