Mr. Muneer Elbaz has more than 13 years of experiences in the cultural heritage field. He holds a master’s degree in the subject of Architectural Conservation from Cairo University in 2007. From 2005-2009, he worked in Cairo and Lahore in different Urban Conservation projects for the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC). Since 2010 till now, Mr. Elbaz has worked at University College of Applied Sciences (UCAS) – Gaza as a lecturer and coordinator of the Development Planning Program. Beside his academic activities, he worked as consultant in Urban Planning and Cultural Heritage projects.
Mr. Elbaz participated in training in different countries like Egypt, Germany, Turkey, Tunis and Palestine about Cultural Heritage Conservation and Post War Recovery, Heritage and Urban Conservation. He published group of papers and articles under subjects of: Significant Building reuse, Urban Planning, Architectural Conservation and Economic Development in Revitalization projects.
Mr. Elbaz is the coordinator of “An Initiative for the Conservation Al-Qaisariyya Bazaar in Gaza Old City”. The initiative aims at raising awareness of the importance of conserving heritage buildings and cultural heritage. Besides, it aims to provide funding through donors to start the architectural restoration and preservation of the bazaar in cooperation and partnership with government agencies, stakeholders, and specialized restoration centers.
