This month, May Al-Ibrashy is our selected expert. Dr. May Al-Ibrashy is a conservation architect who undertakes projects to preserve the architectural and cultural heritage of Egypt, especially Cairo. She focuses on working with local communities and ensuring that they are an integral part of any heritage preservation project.
She has just completed the restoration of the magnificent Shrine of al-Imam al-Shafi’i in Cairo, with the support of the US Embassy in Cairo and The Barakat Trust. She is a lecturer in the department of Architecture at the American University in Cairo, and an honorary professor of practice in the School of Arts at SOAS, University of London.
