Celebrating Women in Islamic Arts, Heritage and Culture
To celebrate, International Women’s Day we have selected women, who over the last 35 years have received grants from The Barakat Trust, or have guided the charity as a Trustee or an Academic Advisory Committee Member.
All the these women have made significants contributions in their chosen field of studies or to the future of The Barakat Trust.

Margaret S. Graves is Associate Professor of Islamic art in the department of Art History at Indiana University. Sinem Erdoğan İşkorkutan
Sinem Erdoğan İşkorkutan earned her Ph.D. from Boğaziçi University Department of History in September 2017. Her research focuses on the early modern Ottoman visual culture and Ottoman cultural history. Kristine Rose-Beers
Kristine Rose-Beers ACR is Head of Conservation at the Chester Beatty in Dublin, Ireland, and an accredited member of the Institute of Conservation (ICON). She graduated from the Conservation programme at Camberwell College of Arts in 2002.
