The Barakat Trust funded Hams Mohamed’s conservation project. He sought to study the corrosion phenomena on the Islamic glass collections at the Petrie Museum based at University College London, and also study the roles of pollutants, relative humidity and temperature effects on the glass collections in Egyptian museums.

The project was successful and produced some very interesting results and findings. Due to our grant Hams was able to extend his tests for longer periods in the years such as summer and winter for better results. With collaboration with UCl he used novel techniques and instruments to test the museum’s environmental conditions and the glass deterioration projects.
