The project provided digitisation, cataloguing and extensive data cross-referencing to his photographic collections. In addition, original unpublished drawings were prepared at the American University in Cairo to be digitised and others were checked at the Ashmolean museum. The overarching aim of this project was to allow Creswell’s important photographic collections to be complete and available online on their respective institutions. The team was further approached by a potential new director at the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities to ask if they would like to share their experience with assessing their Islamic Art and Architecture collection of photographs for future cataloguing and digitisation.
