Congratulations to one of our successful 2022 grantees!

We are thrilled to fund the International Training Programme (ITP) at the British Museum, London, United Kingdom. So what is the ITP?

We know museums change lives. To improve museums across the world, this excellent programme teaches exciting and important skills to museum professionals from across the planet.

Our grant will allow a promising early career professional from the Islamic World to come to the UK and learn vital heritage skills as part of this wonderful programme.

This individual will get to study in the British Museum and at one other UK museum, developing new abilities, ideas, and contacts from a host of countries.

It has made a real contribution. The Barakat Trust is proud that since 2006 we have funded several museum professionals from the Islamic World to take part in this programme and strengthen the Islamic World’s heritage sector. We are looking forward to this year’s addition.

We have heard some great feedback about this learning opportunity – just swipe through the images to see one example from a participant who went on to become Deputy Director of the Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo, Egypt. A cooperative future to curating the past.
